Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Muhyiddin Junaidi evaluates the return of the Islamic Defenders FrontREIT) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab can encourage Muslims in Indonesia to be enthusiastic again in preventing evil.
“His presence can indeed encourage Indonesian Muslims to be more passionate and enthusiastic about wickedness [mencegah kemungkaran], “Muhyiddin said to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (5/11).
Muhyiddin assessed that Rizieq was a cleric figure who had excellence and was creative when dealing with something that was considered wrong. Especially at this time, according to him, acts that violate Allah SWT’s orders are considered massive in Indonesia.
“Currently, evil is rampant and very massive,” he said.
Muhyiddin argues that the very large number of Muslims in Indonesia requires a lot of strong and tough preachers. Because, the problems faced by Muslims today are very complex.
Therefore, Muhyiddin considered Rizieq an asset for Muslims in Indonesia. He also realized that Rizieq still had many shortcomings. Therefore, a synergy is needed in preaching by other scholars or ustaz in order to fill this gap.
“He is not only the Imam for certain Islamic organizations. But the assets of the nation and the people. We are trying to make the people avoid sectoral egos in building this nation and country,” he said.
Rizieq said that he would return to Indonesia to coincide with the commemoration of Heroes’ Day on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The announcement was made after he had remained in Saudi Arabia for approximately three years.
This is not the time that Rizieq has made plans to return to Indonesia. Seven times this discourse has been recorded, but it has never become a reality.
