TULUNGAGUNG, KOMPAS.com – Vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 1 Muhaimin Iskandar asked President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi not to use state facilities to campaign.
According to him, the public will always monitor the attitudes of their leaders in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
“Yes, using state facilities is dangerous. Do not campaign using state facilities. “It’s embarrassing,” said Muhaimin in Sumbergempol District, Tulungagung, East Java, Thursday (25/1/2024).

Meanwhile, this was conveyed in response to the appearance of a finger from the Indonesian presidential car I, the video of which went viral in the last few days.
Apart from that, Muhaimin also left it to Jokowi regarding his choice to end his term of office.
For him, Jokowi must maintain his position as a neutral party as the top leader in Indonesia.
“Let the people judge and the President choose whether his position is respected or not,” he said.
On the other hand, the General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) emphasized that there was no problem with his position as Deputy Chair of the DPR RI.
He claimed that he had never used DPR RI facilities for campaign purposes.
“Yes (the position of) Deputy Speaker of the DPR has not contributed at all to my campaign programs and I have not used any of the facilities available in the DPR,” he added.
It is known that Jokowi stated that a president is not prohibited from taking sides or campaigning.
He emphasized that this is a right inherent in him and the ministers in public and political positions.
When asked about the two-finger raise from the presidential car during a working visit, Jokowi did not answer in detail. He just said it was fun.
“Yes, it’s fun, it’s fun,” said Jokowi in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/1/2024).

Meanwhile, the President’s Special Staff Coordinator, Ari Dwipayana, said that Jokowi’s statement was in accordance with Article 281 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.
He stated that the same attitude was also taken by the two previous presidents, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
“Previous presidents, starting from the 5th and 6th presidents, also had clear political preferences, with the political parties they supported, and participated in campaigns to win the parties they supported,” said Ari to Kompas.com, Thursday.
