Read the vice president of the Coalition for Change Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) wearing a t-shirt with the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) logo while attending a school event for the national movement of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) at Pamulang University, South Tangerang. PBNU spoke up.
“Yes, in my opinion it is permissible for NU members to wear t-shirts with the NU symbol as long as they are not used for political party campaigns,” said Head of Religious Affairs of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Ahmad Fahrurrozi (Gus Fahrur) to journalists, Saturday (23/9/ 2023).
Fahrur said the NU logo was created by the ulama, and should be placed in a place of honor. T-shirts are one of them.
“It’s true that many people sell clothes with the NU logo everywhere, especially on shirts and jackets, that’s legal as long as it’s not misused,” added Fahrur.
Fahrur emphasized that NU is a religious mass organization and not a political party. “That’s why it is not permissible for the NU logo to be used as a campaign tool for certain political parties or certain presidential candidates,” he continued.
As previously reported, monitoring detikcom, on Saturday (23/9/2023) at the location, Cak Imin was present at Pamulang University accompanied by PKB Vice Chairman Jazilul Fawaid and PKB Secretary General Hasanuddin. Cak Imin was seen wearing a peci complete with a PMII jacket. Behind the PMII jacket, Cak Imin is seen wearing a T-shirt with the NU logo.
Cak Imin said PMII made contributions to him starting from zero to the declaration of the Bacawapres Coalition for Change with his partner Anies Baswedan. The provisions from PMII, he continued, made him ready to carry out various tasks up to Presidential level.
“The first time the declaration to become Vice Presidential Candidate was sent by PMII, from the PMII office, where I grew up, given knowledge and leadership skills capital from PMII. I think the capital from PMII is sufficient to become a leader at various levels up to the highest level. Because of PMII I so it’s ready, so the Vice President and President are ready,” said Cak Imin at the location, Saturday (23/9/2023).
