During the reconnaissance Lucinda Brand flew over the course, but after the junior competitions and the rainfall, De Schorre in Boom was transformed into a mud puddle.
While everyone started out a little more cautiously, Inge van der Heijden immediately stormed forward. The Dutch could taste the lead for almost two laps, until she slipped under pressure from Brand.
The world champion did not need more to start a solo. Just like in Besançon, Brand was head and shoulders above the rest. She didn’t miss a thing and finished in the standings with a 4th win in 5 SP motos.
The battle for 2nd place remained tense until the end. Denise Betsema had beaten back far after a shoe change, but then nibbled on one rider after the other.
But on Inge van der Heijden, the number 2 in the standings broke her teeth. Betsema came within a meter of her compatriot, but was unable to limit the damage further.

“Van der Heijden had a super good start and was able to ride her own lines,” Brand said. “I was cold and had a hard time getting into my rhythm. Luckily I had the time for that.”
“When Inge fell, you naturally continue. I’m not going to wait, so I could make a nice hole. Sometimes it was difficult to brake and you had to hope that you stayed upright, but it worked.”
