Muchová – Fernandezová 6: 4, 7: 6, Great performance, Muchová knocked down the US Open finalist! Plíšková and Siniaková will go to the event

Twenty-five-year-old Muchová last played at the US Open last year, where she finished in the opening round. Since then, she has been healing her injured abdominal muscles and has returned to the courts only now in Florida, where she managed the Czech derby with Tereza Martincová in two tie-breaks in the opening round on Wednesday.

In the duel with Fernandez, after a balanced set start, she took control every time from 2: 2. While she led the opening set smoothly to victory, she hesitated in the second. In the state of 5: 4 or 6: 5 she could not finish the match and visibly tired she had to fight in a tie-break. In it, the opponent took the lead 2: 0, but then Muchová took over again, turned to 6: 2 and then changed the second matchword after more than two hours of fighting.

“I’m completely dead,” she said after a match on the court interview. “I didn’t have a day off and I started first today, so I had to get up early,” she complained, acknowledging that tough matches are challenging after a long break. “You can train physics as you wish, but matches are something else. But for me, winning is just that I can play again,” she added.

Her next opponent will be the winner of the duel between Grand Slam champions Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber.

Plíšková and Siniaková also go to the event

In the opening round, the Siniaks made a big turnaround in a duel with the Canadian Rebecca Marinová, which she won in three sets. She will also compete with Raducanu, who ranks 13th in the rankings, on the professional circuit for the first time.

The Czech two Karolína Plíšková will enter the match for the first time as a woman in her thirties. After a broken arm, she will not complete the second match in 2022. The last time she burned down in Indian Wells was at the beginning against the Montenegrin Dance Koviničová. Now Kalinskaya of Russia is waiting for her.
