Paris – Tennis players Karolína Muchová and Linda Nosková do not want to miss the Olympic doubles medal. After today’s semi-final defeat to Italy’s Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, their hope is Sunday’s match for third place. Before that, they have a free day on Saturday, the first in the busy schedule of the Olympic tournament in Paris.

“We’ve been here all week, now we’ve got ourselves into a precarious situation where all we have to do is win, but on Sunday we’ll be on the court and hopefully we’ll do well,” Muchová told Czech journalists.

Against the smaller but more well-matched Italian women, who were on the same courts in the Roland Garros final this year, they were unable to make a comeback. “When I look back, Errani’s speed is twenty kilometers per hour and we weren’t able to break her. On the other hand, they handled it very well tactically. It’s not the first time they play together and they know how to play these situations. They played very well tactically. Better than us,” said Muchová.

At match point, Errani pulled a serve from below on her. “I think I should be ready for everything on the return. Actually, I didn’t expect it at all. I didn’t play my best. So it was shocking,” said last year’s Roland Garros finalist Muchová.

Errani also served on the network. “She has a game based on the slightly more active tennis on the net. At least the doubles. So it was clear that she would try. They had such tactics from the beginning. We didn’t quite find the recipe for it,” Nosková added to her address.

He and Muchová will have a day off for the first time in the tournament on Saturday. They would also like to look at other sports with Czech participation.
