Dresden – Saxony is preparing for the 15th and especially the 18th of May with huge steps. Two dates on which we citizens could at least get an idea of normality again.

In the meantime, those responsible for the state government are still compiling a lot of details that will be voted on Tuesday in an updated ordinance. Much is still unclear, but some is certain.
It is clear that Saxon hotels and pensions do not have to worry about an occupancy limit. Unlike in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where the houses can be used to a maximum of 60 percent, this does not apply in Saxony, explains tourism minister Barbara Klepsch (54, CDU) on request.
Unlike in MeckPomm, Saxon innkeepers are allowed to accommodate holidaymakers from abroad as of May 18, for example the “Fischköppe” itself or tourists from Berlin.
Saxons, on the other hand, are only allowed to stay on the Baltic Sea, Brandenburg or Berlin again from May 25th.
If you stay here as a Saxon, you may from 18.5. back to an outdoor pool, a youth hostel, a small concert, the campsite or the gym – theoretically, a spokesman for Barbara Klepsch emphasizes.
“The preconditions must first be created everywhere. In many cases, this is in the hands of the associations, like at dance schools.” However, the outdoor pools are a matter for the municipalities. But bars remain taboo for the time being, said Minister Klepsch.

Masks are mandatory everywhere
“Case-by-case decisions” are required for amusement parks, says Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (45, CDU) when asked about the example of Belantis near Leipzig. These facilities required special concepts.
There is, however, a fundamental decision on trading: From 18.5. Shops with an area of over 800 square meters are now allowed to open, it no longer has to be “untied”, says Consumer Protection Minister Wolfram Günther (46, Greens).
“But there is still a requirement for masks everywhere, plus a minimum distance of 1.50 meters,” added Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (45, CDU).
The motto is: cut back on government measures, focus more on individual responsibility. “Live with the virus for the next few months until there is a vaccine”.

Therefore, the basic ban on contact continues to exist for the time being. Only two groups may “accumulate”, such as two shared apartments, grandparents and grandchildren or two households. Not more. Meeting and contacting partners is allowed.
This takes the pressure off restaurateurs, who are allowed to open again from May 15th. At the same time, they have the task of providing enough space for individuals who come as guests.
