Much carnival waste will not be collected in Den Bosch and Maastricht | inland

The municipality of Den Bosch calls on people to celebrate carnival elsewhere because it is too busy in the city center. The party will last until Tuesday, which means that there will be a lot of waste, but that will not be cleaned up next week due to a strike.

Due to the strike of municipal officials, both private waste and industrial waste are not being collected. The trade union FNV, which is organizing the strike, warns that it will also have consequences for the surrounding municipalities of Den Bosch: Altena, Vught, Heusden, Bernheze and Oisterwijk.

The strikers are aware that their work stoppage will cause disruption in the southern cities. Thom Josten of FNV Overheid “They prefer to work hard as usual for Maastricht look and see because they are very proud of their city. Yet people put down the work to stand up for themselves.”

The civil servants want higher wages and automatic compensation for inflation in next year’s collective labor agreement. On Thursday, FNV members meet at the Market in Maastricht. Alderman Alex Meij (staff) of Maastricht is also present.

The six-day strike in Rotterdam will end on Monday and the week-long strike by civil servants will begin in Amsterdam. The municipality warns Amsterdammers that the strike can cause nuisance and asks residents to keep waste inside as much as possible.
