“Much Ado About Nothing” – comedy with music by William Shakespeare –

Claudio immediately loses his heart to Hero, the host’s daughter, and at the same time Benedick is suddenly cursed by Beatrice and gets involved in numerous verbal fights. This is where the Shakespearean dance begins: Leonato and Pedro want to use a ruse to trick Hero into a masked ball. And since they’re already at work, they want to put Cupid’s arrows to the acid test: Beatrice has sworn off men in order to lead an independent life free of conventions. In front of Benedict she even vowed never to get married.

This constantly bickering duo should now be united in love. However, all these plans were made without don Juan. Pedro’s humiliated brother takes advantage of the confusing situation to cause a lot of discord for his own amusement and in turn stages a ruse – he tricks his servant Borachio into a shadow play that is intended to cast doubt on Hero’s loyalty.

In her first work for the Theater Oberhausen, director Anne Mulleners, who has already caused a stir in Innsbruck and Ingolstadt with her fresh look at William Shakespeare, will introduce herself with a musical production of the game of confusion.
