Young striker Manchester United Mason Greenwood confirmed that his team must win in the 2021/2022 season. MU has been fasting for the title for four years.
Last season, the Red Devils failed to maximize their chances of winning their first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Following the loss on penalties to Villarreal in the Europa League final.
The last time Man United lifted the trophy was when they won the 2016/17 Europa League under Jose Mourinho. United are now on their longest title drought since 1990 when Sir Alex Ferguson won the FA Cup, his first trophy, in five years.
To get back on the winning track, MU going to buy fishing rods in the summer exchange. The Red Devils immediately signed talented England winger Jadon Sancho and are in negotiations to land Raphael Varane from Real Madrid and right-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid.
Greenwood scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 52 appearances for United in all competitions last season. The 19-year-old said United were prohibited from experiencing a similar failure.
“We need to win trophies and that’s our target at the end of the season,” said Greenwood Mirror. “Like last season, we almost got it. But hopefully next season will be much better.”
Mason Greenwood admits he was inspired by the legendary Manchester United player Wayne Rooney. A total of 253 goals plus 146 assists Rooney recorded for 13 years strengthening MU.
“He’s done everything and he’s the top scorer. I’ll probably ask him, not about how he plays because you can see it for yourself but tips on how you can pierce between defenders and how you can anticipate the game a little bit more.” Greenwood add.
