In this match, the Red Devils started the match without a pure striker. Manager Manchester United Erik ten Hag played Christian Eriksen into a false nine as a starter.

This condition occurred because Anthony Martial was injured and Cristiano Ronaldo considered not fit 100 percent. CR7 then came on in the 51st minute, but failed to make a big impact. MU is now reportedly targeting a new striker due to this situation.

While in the Brighton camp, former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck actually looked charming in this match. From data choose, Welbeck won nine duels and created three chances. The 31-year-old striker was also the brains behind Brighton’s opening goal with an assist.

Moreover, Welbeck is a product of the MU academy and has played there in the 2008-2014 range. MU’s opportunity to recruit Welbeck is also quite large because his contract with The Seaguls only remains until the end of this season.

“He’s free in the summer because he doesn’t have a contract. I’ll take him. About today’s performance, no doubt about it,” Ferdinand said on Vibe with Five.

“If you want a striker back-up, you can’t go wrong with Danny Welbeck. Tell him he’s going to play 15-20 games a season, filling in for Cristiano, giving you movement, behind defenders, freeing up space for people like Bruno.”
