Manchester United it is said that they are very close to making Frenkie de Jong as a new player. But there are other English clubs who have squared off if the transfer disbanded.
Currently the Red Devils reportedly have reached an agreement with Barcelona, the club that owns Frenkie de Jong, to be able to bring the Barcelona midfielder.
A nominal amount of 56 million pounds is said to be an agreement between the two clubs. In order for the transfer to be official, one of the things that must next be realized is Man United’s personal agreement with Frenkie de Jong.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea are closely monitoring the process. The London club is reportedly looking forward to the opportunity to maneuver to circumvent Man United, should the negotiation process with Frenkie de Jong stall.
Under new owner Todd Boehly, Chelsea have yet to buy players. De Jong’s name has been linked with the Blues since 2019 and Thomas Tuchel is reportedly very interested in the player.
Chelsea have also been linked with West Ham United’s Declan Rice. But Frenkie de Jong is expected to be available at a lower price.
With Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s contracts expiring next season, Chelsea need new, reliable players to fill their midfield.
