Los Angeles (AP) – Stars like Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen and Sacha Baron Cohen have been honored at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The awards were presented at a gala hosted by comedian Leslie Jones on Sunday evening (local time) in Los Angeles.
Cohen received the “Comedic Genius” award for his “incomparable contributions to the world of comedy”. Olsen received the award for her role in “WandaVision”. Actor Chadwick Boseman was awarded posthumously.
Johansson was honored for her previous work – and was showered with slime by husband Colin Jost during her video-transmitted acceptance speech. At the Kid’s Choice Awards of the US children’s channel Nickelodeon, it is a tradition for celebrities to be doused with slime. In 2018, model and presenter Heidi Klum also fell victim to this.
The prizes will be presented in the form of gold-colored popcorn cups, and the fans will be able to vote on the winners on the Internet. The MTV Movie & TV Awards traditionally take place after the end of the film awards season around the Golden Globes and Oscars. With categories such as “Best Kiss”, villains, heroes and fight scenes, the younger audience is targeted.
