MTS has expanded access to 4G-based services in the Grodno region | Technologies

MTS has increased the geographic coverage of 4G network services for residents of rural areas. In particular, after the inclusion of 36 new LTE-800 base stations, high-speed mobile Internet appeared in more than 70 settlements of the Grodno region.

Access to fourth generation communications has expanded across 10 districts of the Grodno region. Large areas in rural areas were covered, along with agricultural towns and villages. 4G-based services have become available, including at the Berestovitsa border crossing points, as well as in the Radon sanatorium, located in the Dyatlovsky district.

Thus, residents of the following localities can now use fast wireless Internet and VoLTE voice communications:

  • Berestovitsky district: ag. Big Eismonty, ag. Pogranichny, village of Syroezhki;
  • Volkovysk district: ag. Podorsk, villages Horuzhantsy and Dlugopol;
  • Dyatlovsky district: d. Borowicki, gp. Novoelnya, d. Gezaly;
  • Zelvensky district: ag. Mizherichi, Madeiki village;
  • Mostovsky district: ag. Gudevichi, ag. Dubno, ag. Velyka Rogoznica, ag. Sands, Cherlenka village, Monkovichi village, ag. Mikelevschina;
  • Ostrovetsky district: ag. Gervyaty, ag. Mali, the village of Valeikuni, the village of Podvorantsi and Isobelino;
  • Oshmyany district: Maslovshchina village;
  • Svisloch district: Melnovo village, Vereshchaki village, Bolshie Mikhalki village;
  • Slonim district: ag. Vasilevichy, Pasinich village;
  • Smorgon district: Gauti village, Devyatni village, Kamenitsa village, Kochany village, Khoteni village.

Expansion of 4G network coverage in regions is happening using the LTE-800 band. Compared to the frequencies of 1800 and 2600 MHz, which are actively used in cities, it has the advantage of a larger range. The signal easily passes through obstacles such as walls and forests. This allows you to cover wide areas with fewer base stations.

The project to launch and develop LTE-800 in rural areas is being implemented jointly with infrastructure partner beCloud. The goal is to expand the coverage area of the 4G network throughout Belarus to the 3G level.

MTS subscribers can check whether their smartphone and SIM card support the 4G network by dialing free USSD *464#. The response SMS will contain information about the capabilities of the device.

You can activate the connection to the LTE network on your smartphone yourself by setting the appropriate settings. Then you just need to restart your phone, and high-speed Internet will be automatically available.

On your iPhone you need to go to the following path: Settings – Cellular – Data options – Voice and data. Here you need to set the “LTE” parameter.

For Android smartphones, the chain is as follows: Settings – Mobile network – Mobile data – Preferred network mode. Here you need to select the “4G/3G/2G” option.
