A busy subway station in Brooklyn might have a second entrance.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is considering adding a second access point to the York Street subway station in Dumbo.
Currently, there is only one entrance and exit for users that involves many stairs and does not include an elevator.
An MTA spokesperson says stations like York Street are where tunnels begin their ascent after passing under the East River, and adding another entrance is difficult because the deeper stations are underground with a different type of lining of tunnel making modification difficult.
The MTA says it is studying soil and groundwater conditions, which will help confirm whether structural modifications can be made.
