The MTA investigates a new technology that can detect urine in subway elevators.
Transit officials have been in contact with companies that have successfully installed elevator urine detection systems at other transit systems and airports.
The MTA wants the technology to be able to differentiate between urine and other odors like garbage, food and perfume.
And once it detects urine, it will send an alert to workers so they can clean it up.
