MTA Discounts for Seniors and Disabled – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — Typically, people have to search for discounts that they actually want to use. This month, the MTA will bring the discounts directly to all five boroughs.

Each month, the MTA deploys vehicles to neighborhoods in the Big Apple so that people 65 and older, or with disabilities, can apply for a 50% discount MetroCard, in addition to other services.

The vans offer services such as purchasing MetroCard cards, transferring balances between cards, and help with forms to take advantage of reduced rates.

The vans are mobilized in the five counties of Monday to Friday from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon and transactions can be made only in cash.

People applying for one of the half-price cards must bring a A document that proves your age, such as an ID, Medicare card, or passport.

To find out when and where the MTA teams will be, residents can call 511 or visit the website https://new.mta.info/fares/metrocard-mobile-sales.
