MTA bus killed a pedestrian on Staten Island

An MTA bus driver fatally struck an individual on Staten Island and left the scene.

Later, the authorities questioned the driver who stated that he had not realized that he hit the victim.

This incident occurred just early Saturday morning at the intersection of Platinum Avenue and Forest Hill Road, in the New Springville sector.

The bus was reportedly traveling eastbound when it made a left turn and struck 69-year-old Patrick Varriale.

Varriale was swept away and the bus continued on its way.

The MTA described the incident as tragic and reported that the worker has been suspended pending the final investigation.

For its part, the NYPD is also investigating the case.
