MSP authorized fourth dose of coronavirus vaccine for people from 18 to 49 years old

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) approved the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine for the age group 18 to 49 years with comorbidities.

At a press conference, Health Minister Daniel Salinas pointed out that those who have received two doses of Sinovac and one of Pfizer may be inoculated. The portfolio recommends inoculation for people with comorbidities, but the agenda is for all people within that age group.

“It is likely that the agenda will open on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning,” said the undersecretary of Health, José Luis Satdjian. The agenda will be through the routes that were being made (through the Coronavirus Oops app, web or 0800 19 19).

In addition, Salinas urged those who have not received the third dose of Pfizer to get vaccinated, which is about 17%.

“In April the cessation of the health emergency was decreed, but the pandemic did not end. It is not the end of the pandemic, we are seeing a rebound in cases in the Americas and in the world, although less seriously,” Salinas said in statements recorded by 970 News (radio Universal).

“From Monday to Thursday of last week we had 1,172 new cases and from Monday to Thursday of this week we have recorded 2,636 cases. It is appropriate to highlight the increase in cases that are especially occurring in the 18 to 49-year-old age range. These are cases that occur in labor outbreaks that later lead to intrafamily outbreaks and some cases at educational levels, ”he added.

Salinas recalled “the importance of maintaining non-pharmacological measures, ventilated spaces, the use of a face mask if you remain in a place without ventilation for more than 15 minutes and less than two meters away from other people.” In that sense, he emphasized “meetings where there are a large number of people.”

“We estimate that the increase in cases is due to a greater circulation of a variant with greater contagion capacity, which is BA.2. 35% of the April samples were from the BA.2 sublineage of omicron,” she added.

On the other hand, the minister expressed that it cannot be “ruled out that some other sublineage may be circulating, taking into account mobility and trips abroad.” “We are attentive, it continues to be sequenced. There is no data on the presence, but it does not mean that there is an absence”, concluded Salinas.
