“The Municipality of Canelones and the Mayor’s Office were in charge of detecting and contacting the people of Paso Carrasco to give them a number,” said Diego García, Director of Health of Canelones. 540 issues were delivered. Now the commune is evaluating applying the same system in other localities.
The objective of vaccination plan “People to people” that began on Monday is to carry vaccines against coronavirus to the smallest towns and villages in the country. What happened in the first hours of this new plan is that people from other areas, not yet vaccinated, went to the towns where they knew they were going to supply the vaccine to try to get their first dose.
This happened in some towns in Maldonado, for example, and to prevent the same from happening in Paso Carrasco (where they will be vaccinated this Wednesday) is that the MSP decided to allocate in advance the available places among inhabitants of the area.
“Due to the high adhesion previously detected and due to the possibility of concurrence of people from other localities, it was determined, in conjunction with the local departmental authorities, to previously award all available places with the corresponding vaccine doses,” says the statement of the MSP on vaccination in Paso Carrasco.
For this reason, adds the MSP, “all vaccines destined for that locality are already assigned to people pending vaccination in the area.”
The “town to town” vaccination plan began on Monday, the day on which “6,492 doses were supplied in total, distributed in 40 towns in 17 departments,” says the MSP.
