The Prestige 16 Studio Evo laptop by MSI, set to be released in the second half of 2023, has received Intel’s coveted “Evo” certification. The device includes up to a GeForce RTX 4060, which is a legitimate GPU for gaming and graphic work. The certification is difficult to achieve with a power-hungry discrete GPU inside, so the fact that an RTX 4060 system was performing efficiently enough to receive the certification is exciting. The Prestige 16 is 3.3 pounds, close to a pound and a half lighter than the 16-inch MacBook Pro, and features a 99Whr battery, which is the largest you can bring on a plane.
The device is aimed towards content creators who want a solid Windows laptop without the weight of a 15- or 16-inch device with discrete GPUs inside. A solid battery lifespan would seal the deal, and the Prestige 16 Studio Evo looks very promising in that regard. The finish of the laptop is solid, and it doesn’t pick up fingerprints too much. It may also be one of the first 14th-Gen Meteor Lake laptops in the wild. The processor in the show floor unit was simply listed in Device Manager as “Genuine Intel(R) 0000” and showed 22 threads, which isn’t available in the current 13th-Gen mobile lineup.
The efficiency of the upcoming Meteor Lake generation generates excitement since many of today’s workstation laptops have bad battery life and a hefty chassis due to Intel’s current heavyweight processors being inefficient and hot. The Prestige 16 Studio Evo may just be the MacBook Pro alternative that many creators have been looking for. The pricing for the device has yet to be announced.
