MSI is preparing to release its flagship gaming laptop TITAN 18 HX, which will provide the highest level of performance. The new product will offer Raptor Lake Refresh-HX processors, as well as discrete gaming graphics cards GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4090.
According to available information, MSI TITAN 18 HX will be able to offer processors up to 24-core and 32-thread Core i9-14900HX. It is expected that this chip will be able to automatically overclock to a frequency of 5.8 GHz, which is 200 MHz more than the current Core i9-13980HX.
The most interesting thing is that the MSI TITAN 18 HX will have a maximum TDP of 270 W (combined for CPU and GPU). For comparison, the previous generation TITAN laptop had a declared power consumption mode of 250 W. It is assumed that the graphics card will be allocated 175 W as standard, and the CPU will be 95 W in Boost mode, which is 40 W higher than the nominal TDP of this processor. It’s important to note that the maximum power consumption for this Intel chip (Maximum Turbo Power or MTP) will be 157 W.
The new product will also offer up to 128 GB of DDR5 RAM, two SSDs with a capacity of 2 TB each and support for Wi-Fi 7. MSI has officially confirmed that the TITAN 18 HX will come with a 400 W external power supply. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not provide an image of this device, but you can expect it to be quite large.
It is also known that the TITAN 18 HX will offer an 18-inch Mini-LED backlit display, supporting a resolution of 3840 × 2400 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2 and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. The laptop will also be equipped with a six-speaker audio system Dynaudio and mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches and RGB backlighting.
The official price of the TITAN 18 HX laptop has not yet been announced. Presumably, the model with discrete graphics cards GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will be priced above $4000. For comparison, the predecessor with a Core i9-13980HX and RTX 4080 graphics was priced at $4,299 at launch, and with an RTX 4090 graphics card at $5,299.
