MSI has launched a recall for the MAG Coreliquid 240R and 360R, because debris can build up inside these CPU water coolers that can block the cooling system. The company says it has launched an investigation following complaints from customers.
From preliminary investigation would turn out that in some water coolers can form a sediment, causing a blockage within the cooling system. Due to this blockage, the water cooler can cool the CPU less well, resulting in higher temperatures. MSI gives the example of an idle temperature that does not fall below 60 degrees Celsius.
Customers can enter the serial number of their water cooler on the MSI . website† If the water cooler has the correct serial number and the user suffers from a blocked cooler, the customer can send in the water cooler and receive a V2 version of the CPU cooler in return.
These V2 versions have been on sale since January this year, according to Pricewatch. The regular versions of the CPU water coolers have been for sale in the Netherlands since July 2020. It concerns two coolers with a radiator of 240 mm or 360 mm in size, which have two or three fans respectively.
