Let us recall that it was previously reported that dozens of users complained of problems with MSI Z790 Tomahawk WiFi motherboards. Reports say that systems on these boards refuse to start. During the investigation of these cases, it was determined that the problem lies in the chipsets. Cracks have appeared on them, due to which the boards become unusable.

The manufacturer stated that a small number of MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi boards were affected by the problem of chipset damage. The company noted that the source of damage to the chipset turned out to be the chip cooling radiator, or rather the bolts that secure the radiator to the motherboard. Apparently, tightening them created excessive pressure on the chipset. The company said it is already using different bolt designs to attach heatsinks to motherboards. Below is MSI’s full statement:

“Regarding the MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi incident, we have discovered that a small number of boards may experience a non-functional PCH, potentially rendering the board itself inoperable. We have identified the issue in the design of the heatsink screws that were previously used to secure the heatsink to the chipset and have taken prompt action to resolve the issue. At the moment, the problem in production has been fixed, and all models are produced with a new version of screws.”.

The company also recommends that if problems are detected in the operation of the board, you apply for warranty service at the place where the product was purchased.
