Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Doctors Without Borders (Medicins Sans Frontieres/MSF) staff reported a horror situation in RS Al Shifa Gaza Strip Palestine which is still surrounded by drones and tanks Israel until Monday (13/11).
After communication networks were restored in the Al Shifa Hospital area, MSF released a statement that a number of its staff sent reports regarding the current situation at the largest hospital in Gaza, which was increasingly dying.
“We have no electricity or clean water in the hospital. There is no food. People will die in the next few hours without functioning ventilators. In front of the hospital, many bodies are strewn on the ground. There are several injured patients too and we cannot take them into the hospital,” said a statement from the MSF surgeon on duty at Al Shifa Hospital.
MSF also said that Israel attacked an ambulance carrying a number of patients a few meters from the front gate of Al Shifa Hospital.
“There are also snipers who continue to shoot at patients. They (patients) were injured by gunfire. We have operated on three patients due to sniper fire,” MSF was quoted as saying. Al Jazeera.
MSF said the situation at Al Shifa Hospital was inhumane because it was completely isolated from the outside world. According to MSF, the internet network is unstable and sometimes completely down.
Even so, MSF staff and medical officers at Al Shifa Hospital refused to be evacuated from the hospital. They vowed that they would only leave the hospital if the patients were also evacuated.
“We don’t want to leave our patients behind. There are around 600 patients, 37 babies and a person who needs ICU care. We cannot abandon them,” said MSF.
“We need guarantees that there is a safe corridor (for evacuation) because we saw some people trying to leave Al Shifa and they (Israel) killed them, bombed people, and snipers killed them. Inside Al Shifa Hospital, there were patients and injured medical team. If they give us guarantees and evacuate the patients first, we will evacuate.”
Al Shifa Hospital has been under Israeli siege since last weekend. Doctors and Al Shia Hospital administrators said that Israeli drones continued to fly over the hospital complex and shot at every moving object.
A medical worker was killed by an Israeli drone while trying to reach an incubator to help a premature baby.
The world strongly condemned the siege of Al Shifa Hospital, but Israel argued that this hospital was a nest for Hamas facilities.
As of Monday (11/13), the death toll due to Israeli aggression against Gaza since October 7 has reached 11,240 people.
As many as 4,630 of the total victims killed were children, and 3,130 others were women.
The number of deaths from Israel’s aggression against Gaza in more than a month exceeds the number of deaths due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine since February 2022.
