MSD Animal Health will be present at the 14th European Symposium of Porcine Health Management (ESPHM), which will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from May 31 to June 2, 2023.
The company will present new research across the company’s broad swine portfolio, including on intradermal vaccine Porcelain ® Lawsonia ID.
Merck will also display data on a new rapid blood progesterone kit to assess the reproductive status of gilts.

MSD will expose a study that reflects that “the vaccination at the beginning of fattening may be a sufficient measure to control ileitis during fattening and improve feed efficiency on the farm”.
They will also demonstrate that “intradermal vaccination against Lawsonia intracellularis decreases the bacterial load in feces”, consequently, “the symptoms in growing pigs”.
During the event, the company will talk about the latest advances in porcine intestinal virus sequencingor the results of rapid kits for the measurement of progesterone to assess the state of the reproductive tract of gilts for the control of reproductive problems.
