Post match ratings:
Ivan Feneš, SR coach: “It was a world-class match. We are extremely happy that we succeeded, such a victory greatly motivates us for the further course of the tournament. I am proud of the guys, they showed an extra class. Goalkeeper Gajan performed an incredible performance. He kept us in the game. When it was necessary, he made sensational saves.”
Adam Gajan, Slovakia goalkeeper: “We played very well. At the end of the third half I was quite tired, I also had cramps. It was tough, but I’m happy we won.”
Filip Mešár, SR striker: “Before the match we said to each other that we had to make a completely different performance than the Finns, and we succeeded. We played for each other, the substitute experienced the whole duel. The emotions are there, but we have to watch forward as far as possible until midnight, we still have a tough match ahead of us in the tournament.”
Šimon Nemec, defender of SR: “You can’t be tired after a performance like that. We did a lot of good things in this game.”
Rand Pecknold, USA coach: “Today the opposing goalkeeper was clearly the best player on the ice. We have to play consistently and the boys know it.”
