Even though he is the grandson of the prolamator of Indonesia Bung Karno and the son of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, it does not mean that his career only relies on him privilege (privilege) politics.
“Perhaps many think that I reached my current position easily, because being the grandson and child of a character is considered to be able to pave the way. But in reality there is no achievement without hard work,” said Puan, quoted from an interview video uploaded to the @puanmaharaniri account, Tuesday ( 17/5/2022).
Puan assessed that her hard work and struggle can be seen from the votes she gets every time the legislative elections are held. Three times running for elections, Puan always gets the most votes nationally.
Of course, this cannot be achieved simply by the status of the proclaimer’s grandson or the president’s son. “To get the trust from the community, you have to go through a long process of struggle,” said Puan.
With hard work, Puan’s voice always rises every time she participates in legislative elections. He has always succeeded in capturing the votes of the people in his constituencies in Central Java 5, which include Surakarta, Sukoharjo, Klaten, and Boyolali.
In the 2009 election, Puan won 242,504 votes, the second most nationally. Then in the 2014 election, Puan won 369,927 votes, also the second most in Indonesia. Puan chose to relinquish her seat in the DPR because President Joko Widodo appointed her to serve as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK).

Finally, in the 2019 election, she won the first rank with the most national votes with 404,034 votes. “I believe there is nothing that we can achieve instantly,” said Puan.
