As a sign of their growing synergy, the MRC and Accès Entreprise de Beauharnois-Salaberry presented a first joint annual report, summarizing their activities in 2022. Our support for businesses has helped 137 of them and distributed more than $1.2 million from government or local funds says Daniel de Brouwer, director of regional economic development at Accès Entreprise.
Marked by collaboration, the year was also characterized by dynamism and economic growth. From the common vision of the two organizations was born the 2022-2026 strategic plan, promoting the development of the territory through around fifty actions.
Economic growth and development planning
These actions accompany a general growth in investments, amounting to $580 million over the past year. These have enabled the construction of more than 1,200 new housing units as well as major industrial developments, generating jobs in the area.
« Faced with this impressive development, it is important to equip ourselves with adequate planning tools in order to optimize the benefits of this favorable economic situation. “, adds Miguel Lemieux, prefect of the MRC.
On this subject, the MRC filed in 2022 the second generation of its Fire safety risk coverage plan. Otherwise, she continued her work to soon publish her Residual Materials Management Plan (PGMR) 2023-2029 as well as its new Cultural Policy.
In terms of development, important steps have been taken for the realization of the next land use and development plan (SAD) as well as for that of the regional plan for wetlands and bodies of water (PRMHH). –
Collaboration et innovation
« The winners of the past year include many innovations, the fruit of our collaboration with our partners,” underlines Linda Phaneuf, Director General of the MRC. These include the launch of getaways, developed with tourism businesses.
There is also a partnership agreement with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) for the development of professional artists or with the MAPAQ for the realization of the VITRINE project, aimed at promoting agritourism businesses.
The MRC and Accès Entreprise would like to thank their staff members and their many collaborators for achieving these results. The complete document is available via the following link: www.mrcbhs.ca/rapports-annuels.
