Geopolitical clusterfuck
While you turned in for a sad new season of Op1 or the never-ending chatter at Humbertoyoung people (everyone who watched the floppy disk only knows as a save icon, ed.) their entertainment in a less linear form. For example at Youtube king MrBeast which in its latest multi-million dollar video drew one person from every country in the world to compete in a series of challenges for a grand prize of $250,000. That is not only a production that our prehistoric TV channels can only dream of, but this combination of Game Without Borders (Henk Krol remembers, ed.) and Squid Game also scores ratings that give television bosses hard beaming. The show immediately became the YouTube video with the most views in the first 24 hours ever this weekend and currently the counter is already above 80 million viewers. The problem is that an American determined how the world looks and that shows a striking worldview through the cards used. For example, Crimea in MrBeast’s world is part of Russia and even more debatable: Taiwan is counted as part of China, while Hong Kong is a separate nation. Then there is Greenland that suddenly belongs to Canada and the flag of the American state of Georgia (classic) has been used for the country of Georgia. Speaking of flags, the new Taliban flag is flying over Afghanistan, so the haters can count on Jimmy’s recognition as well. The same applies to Kosovo and Palestine, which are seen as independent countries by the US, although the latter has to do without the Gaza Strip. This is the geopolitical situation according to the like-and-subscribe generation. With enough thumbs up, your free-spirited state can also be recognized. Oh and if you want to know whether the national tricolor should be in the top: the Dutch participant was already eliminated in the second round, so it didn’t put us on the map.
Our eastern neighbours: the US
Every choice here is wrong anyway
