The American YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson aka MrBeast recently became the new number 1 on the video platform. He now has an incredible 130 million subscribers on YouTube. He kicked off the throne of gamer PewDiePie, who had been number 1 since 2013. YouTuber MrBeast has worked hard to earn the top spot. His videos are not only complex, but also cost a lot of money. Not least because the content creator also regularly organizes charity campaigns or gives away his money to his followers.
Now Jimmy has proven once again how much he cares about people. In his latest video, January 28, 2023, “1000 Blind People See For The First Time,” the YouTuber pays for eye surgeries for 1,000 people who can’t afford it.

But not everyone is enthusiastic about the campaign. The YouTuber is also heavily criticized online. Some users accuse MrBeast of “positive clickbait” and describe his charity campaigns as “charity porn”. Some find it unethical to generate clicks on the suffering of other people.
For many, the action shows a problem in the health system of some states. “I don’t understand why there is curable blindness. Why don’t governments step in and help?” MrBeast wrote on Twitter. Many agree with him.
The YouTuber does not find anything reprehensible about his action. He cannot understand the hate he is receiving on Twitter. He writes:
