Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stipulated a regulation on the ban on CPO cs exports starting Thursday (28/4). Through his speech, Jokowi said that this rule would apply until the availability of cooking oil returns to normal at an affordable price, especially bulk oil in the market.
The prohibition is regulated in the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 22 of 2022 concerning the Temporary Prohibition of Exports of Crude Palm Oil, Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil, Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Olein, and Used Cooking Oil.
“I ask the palm oil business players to look at this problem better, more clearly and I as president can’t allow that to happen. It’s been 4 months since the scarcity has been going on and the government has tried various policies but they haven’t been effective,” Jokowi said Wednesday (27 /4/2022)
“The ban applies to exports from all parts of Indonesia, including from bonded areas,” Jokowi continued.
With the enactment of the ban on the export of palm products, what about the price of cooking oil in the market? From detikcom monitoring, Saturday (30/4/2022) the price of cooking oil is still expensive.
In the Mampang Prapatan market, for example, bulk cooking oil is priced between Rp. 22,000 – Rp. 24,000/kg. This price is much higher than the Highest Retail Price (HET), which is Rp. 14,000/liter or Rp. 15,500/kg.
According to Iwan, one of the basic food traders, they have never experienced the bulk cooking oil subsidy program. Traders buy bulk cooking oil for IDR 18,000/kg from agents, then sell it to consumers for IDR 22,000/kg.
Meanwhile, the price of bulk cooking oil in Santa Market, Kebayoran Baru ranges from Rp. 16,000 – Rp. 18,000/kg. “I sell 1 kg for Rp. 18,000. For 1 liter, it is Rp. 16,000,” said Asih, one of the traders at Santa Market.
According to Asih, traders in Santa Market have only received bulk oil subsidies twice this month. Before that, many traders had not sold bulk cooking oil for a long time.
Anto, another basic food trader, confirmed that he had only experienced the bulk cooking oil subsidy twice. He buys bulk cooking oil for IDR 13,000/kg, then sells it again for IDR 16,000/kg. According to him, the export ban policy will not affect oil prices in Santa Market. “Still the same, I received two shipments at a price of Rp. 13,000,” he said.
Anto admitted that he could not sell bulk cooking oil according to the HET because there were many other costs to be incurred. For example, the cost of packaging, labor services, and others.
