President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) confirms the revocation Tap MPRS Number XXXIII / MPRS / 1967 concerning the revocation of the power of the state government to President Sukarno. Jokowi stated that there was no need for further legal action regarding the matters governed by the MPRS decree. He argued that the revocation took place in 2003.
“We have to point out that MPRS decree number 1 / mpr / 2003 states that MPRS TAP number 33 / MPRS / 1967 is a group of MPRS decrees that are declared invalid and no further legal action is required,” Jokowi said in a video uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat. , Monday (7/11).
The content of MPRS decree number XXXIII / MPRS / 1967 is the revocation of presidential power from Sukarno. The regulation alludes to Sukarno’s involvement in the G30S incident.
The consideration for the MPRS decree stated that Sukarno had made a decision in favor of the G30S movement. Furthermore, Sukarno was said to have protected the PKI leaders.

Jokowi’s statement was welcomed by Sukarno’s son, Guntur Soekarnoputra. He assessed that Jokowi’s declaration dampened the desucarnoization movement that was developing in Indonesia.
