MPR Asks Jokowi to Fire Sri Mulyani: Cuts Budget, Breaks Promise

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Leader MPR RI asked President Joko Widodo to fire the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani from his position. The MPR leadership considered that Ani, as Sri Mulyani was known, was incompetent in managing sustainable government policies.

MPR Deputy Chairman Fadel Muhammad said one of the reasons for Jokowi’s request to dismiss Ani was the MPR budget cuts. In fact, the number of MPR leaders has changed from four to 10 during this period.

“We in this MPR have 10 leaders, first there were only four people, then 10 people. The budget in the MPR is even lower, it keeps going down,” Fadel told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/11).

In addition, Fadel also expressed a number of other disappointments with Ani’s performance. Among them, Ani did not keep her promise regarding the number of activities carried out by the Four Pillars, and suddenly canceled her attendance at the meeting with the MPR.

“The MPR leadership met with the Minister of Finance, we invited him, everything had been set, suddenly he canceled two days later, arranged again, he canceled,” he said.

The former Golkar Party politician reminded that the MPR is a high state institution. He requested that they receive fair treatment compared to other state institutions.

Therefore, Fadel said, 10 MPR leaders had a joint meeting and as a result asked President Jokowi to remove Ani.

“So we, on behalf of the leadership of the MPR of the Republic of Indonesia, propose to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to dismiss the sister of the Minister of Finance,” he said.

CNNIndonesia.com has attempted to contact the Head of the Communications and Information Services Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Rahayu Puspasari, regarding this matter. However, there has been no response until this news was revealed.
