Barely installed in the National Assembly, Sylvie Ferrer continues the fight, on behalf of the NUPES, on the issue of health and castigates the “guilt” of users of the Tarbes hospital.
Wearing the tricolor scarf and surrounded by the components of the NUpes (LFI, PS, PCF, Génération. s, EELV), Sylvie Ferrer locally “inaugurated” her new functions in the form of a press conference in front of the site of the School of Nursing. “We were taken aback by the remarks of the prefect and the director of the ARS who recommend a “good use” of health services. It is not up to users to pay for the destruction of the health system that has begun since 25. And we had already warned, in vain, on this subject, the austerity on the means led to the shortage of doctors and staff and therefore to the closure of services that we know, is not an overconsumption of users who are involved.” By relativizing, however, on the question of emergencies. “The closure of emergencies in Ormeau and at night in Bagnères mean that those in Tarbes are mechanically overwhelmed. And the only solution offered, instead of recruiting massively, is to do a “filtering”, via a telephone number Inevitably, we will miss serious cases…”
Recruit massively, that’s the watchword, even though officials assure that they can’t find candidates. “We must make these jobs, which are difficult, more attractive, with better remuneration and we must start with the thawing of the index point and of course reintegrate the non-vaccinated personnel who have been suspended. When we are on a stretcher in the emergency room, we are not going to ask the nurse if she has her health pass…” But she recognizes that the question of emergencies is induced by the desertification of general practitioners. “We must develop health centers and hire doctors.” Who, the communities whose job it is not, after all?
For Roland Cazeneuve (PCF and specialist in health issues at the CGT) adds: “This guilt of users is scandalous, we deal with the consequences, not the causes. We lack everything, doctors, nurses, clearly, means, and fee-for-service does not help. In short, we are being cut off from our means, and we are being asked to do the best we can. That’s very nice, but put more clearly, we are being forced to work badly, and when it comes to healing, it’s serious.” For the EELV representative, “there is no long-term vision, and to get through the summer, the solution is to cross your fingers not to get sick! It’s a somewhat curious way of treating patients… We need real consultation.” Cathy Saüt (Génération. s) also asks for a round table and pleads for a return of local medicine, “the only one that provides care and especially prevention, otherwise, we will pay for it very quickly, thousands of people don’t have no attending physician.”
The diagnosis has been made for a long time, now Sylvie Ferrer promises to take action and weigh in the National Assembly, slipping that “in any case, it is not the single hospital that will solve the problem.” By the way…
CGT: “A speech not at all reassuring”
Following the update carried out in the prefecture on June 21, and the meeting with the ARS which the CGT attended, the CGT finds the official speech “little reassuring. We have played our role of whistleblower, for a long time, but alas, we were not listened to.Today, the system is only held together by the dedication of health personnel, in the words of the prefect, personnel who have already been asked a lot without any compensation. We join the request for a round table, to put everything back on track and start again on the basis that will ensure normal access to quality care, for the good of all, staff and users.”
