MP Shashi Tharoor shares his experience of meeting a victim during the Bosnian uprising. The meeting took place in Germany. Tharoor wrote on Facebook that this was a very emotional meeting that happened after one of his speeches in Germany. Tharoor came abroad to visit countries like Germany and Austria. When Nadeem, a young man who lost almost all of his family in the 1990s civil war in Goražde, Bosnia, came up to the stage to say that he and many others like him had survived that war because of the efforts of myself and my colleagues at the UN, I was also deeply moved.
Nadeem was whining; I also had no words to speak then.
I am grateful that the efforts of those days paid off, not only did the eighteen hours of work days and nights yield the desired results.
