The prosecution does not disclose why it has not requested the withdrawal of the immunity of deputies Aldo Dávila, from the VOS party, and Román Castellanos, from Semilla. And, in the conference given for the case, the prosecutor announced that he would also take action against these congressmen.

In the case of the USAC takeover, the MP carried out 31 raids, with 27 arrest warrants, but only made five arrests, of teachers and students. Also among those detained is Marcela Blanco, who was a candidate for deputy for the Semilla Movement.

The thesis of the investigating entity is that the seizure of the central campus served as a “political platform” to participate as candidates in the last elections. In some cases because the officials were seen at the scene, in others, as in the case of Arévalo, because they spoke on social networks.

Regarding the requests for withdrawal of pretrial proceedings, Deputy Carlos Barreda describes the prosecutor’s intention as “ridiculous.” Furthermore, he points out that this is a political persecution so that the elected authorities do not take office on January 14, 2024.
