The Domain Extinction Prosecutor’s Office Public ministry (MP) has recovered several extinct properties from the former mayor of La Antigua Guatemala, Adolfo Vivar Marroquín.
And, despite the fact that the assets have been extinct since 2016, they continue to be occupied, since the properties include farms, parking lots and areas under construction.

The properties secured by the prosecutor’s office are valued at 8 million 400 thousand dollars, about 66.6 million quetzales, which belonged to the former mayor.

The proceedings began this Friday morning and, according to the investigating entity, this afternoon the operations were completed.
“The proceedings are carried out with the purpose of materializing the assets, since, despite the extinction, they continue to be used,” confirms the MP.
Adolfo Vivar Marroquín is serving a 16-year prison sentence for the crimes of corruption and money laundering. In addition, at the time a fine of 13 million quetzales was imposed on him.
The former official’s conviction is for the diversion of 20 million quetzales of public funds to various companies, as well as the handling of up to 8 million quetzales in cash, without being able to justify the use.
In this case, another 23 people have been prosecuted by the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity in 2019.
