MP Pierre Bou Assi of the “Strong Republic” Bloc Criticizes Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Bou Habib and Hezbollah’s Role in Lebanon

A member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, MP Pierre Bou Assi, wrote on the “X” platform: “The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, presented us with a very dangerous position that prompts us to ask the question again about the loyalty of Minister Bou Habib, whether Lebanon has a people and a state or not.” “For an armed component, Hezbollah, which is outside any legitimacy.”

He pointed out that “Resolution 1701 is a Security Council resolution, and Lebanon, and specifically the Minister of Foreign Affairs, must abide by it.”

He asked: “Didn’t anyone tell Minister Bou Habib that there was a war going on in the south outside the framework of the Lebanese sovereign decision, to claim that Hezbollah’s withdrawal to the north of the Litani would lead to a renewal of the war?”

He said: “Minister Bou Habib claims that the army is unable to deploy on the border, thus justifying the presence of Hezbollah outside any sovereign decision on an extremely dangerous issue, which is the decision of war and peace.”

He added: “We are not proud that Abdullah Bou Habib is a minister in Lebanon, nor do we say a Lebanese minister, and we hold him responsible for all the damage and tragedies caused by the Hezbollah militia against Lebanon and its people.”
