The arrest of Marcin Romanowski, a politician of Sovereign Poland, PiS MP and former deputy minister of justice, who in earlier years was chargeable for the Justice Fund, was introduced on Monday afternoon by the spokesman for the Nationwide Prosecutor’s Workplace, prosecutor Przemysław Nowak.
“Through the investigation into irregularities within the Justice Fund, the prosecutor obtained proof permitting Marcin Romanowski to be charged with 11 offences, together with participation in an organised group aimed toward committing property crimesand specifically by exceeding powers, failing to fulfil obligations and certifying falsehoods in paperwork, inflicting important harm to the property of the State Treasury,” recalled prosecutor Nowak.
The movement to raise the immunity of MP Romanowski was submitted to the Sejm in mid-June. On July 12, the Sejm lifted the immunity of Marcin Romanowski. The MPs agreed to each his arrest and short-term detention.
