On August 10, Izabela Katarzyna Mrzygłocka, a member of the Sejm from the Wałbrzych district, an economist and local government activist, died. She was 65 years old.
The death of the Civic Coalition MP was announced on Saturday morning by the mayor of Świdnica, Beata Moskal-Słaniewska. She shared the sad news in a post on her social media.
“My dear, but how??? It wasn’t your time yet… It wasn’t a battle you were supposed to lose… This morning Izabela Katarzyna Mrzygłocka, a member of the Polish Parliament, passed away. There will be time for words. Now, sorrow and tears…” – wrote Moskal-Słaniewska.
This information was also confirmed by the Lower Silesian Civic Platform. “We regret to inform you that our friend Izabela Katarzyna Mrzygłocka, MP of the 10th term of the Sejm, vice-chair of the Civic Coalition Parliamentary Club and chair of the Parliamentary Ethics Committee, has passed away at the age of 65. You will remain in our memory forever, rest in peace,” it was reported on social media.
“Kasia Mrzygłocka has passed away – she gave us an example of how to never give up. Our thoughts are with her loved ones,” wrote Rafał Trzaskowski, mayor of Warsaw.
Voters trusted her six times
Izabela Katarzyna Mrzygłocka was 65 years old. She came from Wałbrzych. She was a graduate of the Wrocław University of Economics and the Higher School of International Studies in Łódź. In the late 1990s, she became involved in local government as a city councilor in her hometown of Wałbrzych. At that time, she was already a member of the Freedom Union. She was also deputy chair of the Self-Government Community Council and deputy chair of the Social Council of the A. Sokołowski Specialist Hospital in Wałbrzych.
In 2004, she joined the Civic Platform and ran for the Sejm six times on its lists – each time gaining a mandate. It was no different in the last parliamentary elections in 2023. Izabela Katarzyna Mrzygłocka was a member of the Lower Silesian Parliamentary Group and the team for Polish-Czech cross-border cooperation and the team for supporting the development of health resorts and health resort municipalities.
In June 2023, the MP was awarded the Order of the Smile, which is awarded for activities on behalf of children.
A few years ago she spoke openly in the media about her battle with cancer.
