MP Gündogan files a complaint against Volt for libel and slander

The Amsterdam Member of Parliament Nilüfer Gündogan has filed a complaint against party leader Laurens Dassen van Volt for libel and slander this evening. The report is also directed against the party board and the thirteen anonymous reporters who complained about undesirable behaviour. She has asked the public prosecutor for a criminal investigation.

That confirms lawyer Carry Knoops AT5/NH Amsterdam after reporting from RTL News† Gundogan said in a statement earlier today that she has done nothing inappropriate after Volt expelled her from the faction for transgressive behavior.

According to Volt, 13 reports had been received “ranging from pawing and unwelcome sexual advances to harassment and abuse of position.” According to Gundogan, she was not informed of the content of the reports and she was not given “a decent chance” to respond to the charges.

External investigation

“If there would have been sexually transgressive behavior, then the road to the Public Prosecution Service would have to be taken. But an independent judge has not been tested. Instead of the judge who can judge me, Volt himself played a judge and judged me. This does not fit the rule of law,” she wrote in her statement.

She stated that she did not want to participate in an investigation into the allegations because she did not trust Volt’s chosen investigative agency.
