MP Bilal Abdullah Urges Government Action on Food Safety Amid Rising Cases of Food Poisoning in Lebanon: Lebanon Debate

“Lebanon Debate”

Food safety greatly affects human health, as the practice of food safety in Lebanon does not meet the proper conditions and standards, and does not guarantee the safety of consumers in Lebanon, and this is what puts us at risk of food poisoning.

In this context, MP Bilal Abdullah confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that “the issue of food poisoning has become rampant in Lebanon without any control, and this is not surprising, but things should not continue like this because the food safety issue is a technical and scientific issue.” It requires careful monitoring.

He believes that “declared or undeclared cases of food poisoning carry serious indicators that indicate the persistence of some greedy criminals in endangering people’s health, and this is what should prompt the government to approve implementing decrees for the food safety law.”

Abdullah says: “The government is obligated to activate the food safety file, so I will visit caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to present this file to him in order to protect the lives and safety of citizens.”

At the end of his speech, Abdullah touched on the presidential file, stressing that “everyone must respond to the effort undertaken by the National Moderation bloc, regardless of declared or undeclared positions in this regard, because the time has come to end the vacancy in the presidential file.”
