The results show that music does have a positive effect, but this does not mean that Mozart’s works can improve cognition.
Listening to Mozart’s works does not increase intelligence. This has been established by Austrian scientists from the University of Vienna.
The discovery refutes the so-called “Mozart Effect”.
The phenomenon was described in 1993. in Science. According to the study, students who listened to Mozart’s “Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major” performed better on tests requiring reflection than their peers who listened to other music or spent the time in complete silence.
The specialists analyzed the data from 40 studies involving 3,000 people. The results show that music does have a positive effect, but this does not mean that Mozart’s works can improve cognitive abilities, the scientists added.
