Congress on the Mozarabic Way of Santiago. Next November 18 the celebration of the Congress of the Mozarabic Way of Santiago will take place in the Diputación de Córdoba.
The Mozarabic Way of Santiago, is one of the oldest routes with history and tradition of the peninsula that is a unique path for all the pilgrimage, religious, cultural and experiential components that it brings with it.
This road leaves from the provinces of Almería, Málaga Granada and Jaén to converge in Córdoba, entering Extremadura to Mérida where it joins the southern roads from Seville, Cádiz and Huelva on the Vía de la Plata to Astorga where it continues along the route. of the French Way until arriving at Santiago.
In total, it covers 939.80 km distributed in 39 stages and 6 variants that run through more than 40 municipalities in the provinces of Almería, Granada, Málaga, Jaén, Córdoba and Badajoz.
The values of all kinds that the Mozarabic Way has as it passes through the province of Córdoba are undeniable.
The pilgrim who, departing from Jaén, Granada or Malaga reaches the province of Cordoba can admire fortresses, Roman or medieval bridges, innumerable examples of religious or civil architecture, whether Muslim or Christian, or urban ensembles of medieval origin, archaeological remains, etc., together with landscapes of great variety, such as olive groves and cereal fields, Mediterranean mountains, holm oak and rockrose meadows, where you can still see sheep or cattle grazing today, Special Bird Protection areas and numerous rivers and streams.
Given the importance of the road as an axis strategic development and structuring of inland tourism At all levels, local, provincial, regional and national, we consider that participation in said Congress in which the current situation of the Camino Mozárabe de Santiago in Andalusia and the experiences carried out in other areas of Spain will be exposed.
In addition to the Congress, the following activities related to the Mozarabic Way of Santiago will be carried out:
