Moyes and two West Ham players tested positive

West Ham manager David Moyes, as well as players Issa Diop and Josh Cullen have all tested positive for Covid-19.

The team’s medical support staff was informed of the test result when the team had arrived at London Stadium for tonight’s league cup match against Hull.

– Disturbing

The manager and both players left the stadium immediately after receiving the message that they were infected.

– This is not particularly good news. They can probably handle individual examples, but if it becomes widespread in several teams at the same time, then the road is quite short for it to have consequences for the match program and the running of the series further, says TV 2’s football expert Brede Hangeland.

– If the infection spreads, is it possible that there could be a new stop in the Premier League?

– Of course it can. It is a disturbing situation. No matter how hard the Premier League tries, they fail to isolate themselves from the rest of society. If the infection increases in the country, there will be more cases in the league, says Hangeland.

Had no symptoms

All three infected were asymptomatic and will now follow the guidelines of the Premier League and the English health service.

Diop played the entire West Ham match against Arsenal on Saturday.

West Ham did well without the infected trio against Hull in the league cup on Tuesday. It ended in a 5-1 victory after goals from Robert Snodgrass, Sébastien Haller (2) and Andriy Yarmolenko (2). Mallik Wilks scored the guests’ consolation goal.

It was assistant manager Alan Irvine who led the team in Moye’s absence.

West Ham offered Hull to test their players and support staff ahead of Tuesday’s league cup meeting. The club declined the offer.

The team’s next match is at home against Wolves on Sunday.

On Monday, it became known that Manchester City’s Ilkay Gündogan is also the center of the coronavirus. It became known shortly before the light blues from Manchester were to open the season away against Wolves.
