The Movement for Homosexual Integration and Freedom (Movilh) has expressed its strong rejection of the report “Our Trans Children”, which was broadcast by TVN’s Special Report. According to the group, the program not only includes an openly transphobic approach, but also represents a major obstacle to the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people in the media.

Javiera Zúñiga, spokeswoman for Movilh, criticized the lack of rigor of the report led by journalist Santiago Pavlovic, pointing out that he used emotional language and did not mention the ideological interests of those presented as experts . According to Zúñiga, the report made statements without the necessary support and labeled adults who deny their children’s gender identity as “victims of the system.”

Nicolás Morales, spokesperson for Trans Area Movilh, pointed out that the report questioned the Best Interest of the Child and presented legal decisions for children under 18 in a negative way. Morales emphasized that journalism must be careful with the language used, and he criticized the use of words such as “mutation” and “amputation,” which he considered rude and contributing to prejudice.

The report was also accused of presenting false and biased information, suggesting without evidence that young children are undergoing transfer procedures against their parents’ wishes. Morales explained that gender identity is not a choice, but a natural human feeling, independent of age.

Zúñiga also criticized the link established by the report between political processes, the pandemic and gender identity, saying it was dangerous hate speech. According to Movilh, the report showed that people were against LGBTIQ + rights such as psychologists without mentioning their political activity, which they consider a lack of journalistic ethics.

Movilh concluded by asking citizens to report the report to the National Television Council (CNTV) for violating the dignity of transgender people through biased information and going against the Interest of Children.
