On behalf of the SONQO association, President Ursula Koch gives you a documentary film from Peru for these festive days, which shows socially shaped tradition and folklore in combination with the confidence and innovative power of a healer: This 72-minute documentary is about Mama Irene, an extraordinary 84-year-old natural and spiritual healer. She draws a contemporary testimony to Peru’s indigenous wisdom and ancient traditions. This film preserves the endangered culture and is therefore an indispensable document for posterity. At the same time, aer tells the individual story of Mama Irene, who, despite all the resistances and challenges of her innate profession, has always remained faithful to the service of all. The film also bears witness to women’s empowerment and a lifestyle in harmony with Mother Earth.
