[Movie] Hot last dance… Movie ‘Venom: The Last Dance’

Marvel’s first villain hero ‘Venom’ returned after three years with ‘Venom: The Last Dance’. This is the last of the beloved ‘Venom’ series, which has been led for 9 years by actor Tom Hardy, who played the main character ‘Eddie’ and became the series’ identity. As a work that decorates the finale of ‘Venom’ (2018) and ‘Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage’ (2021), the play presents a spectacular action sequence to match.

The fantasy buddy ‘Eddie Brock’ (Tom Hardy) and the alien symbiote ‘Venom’ that uses his body as a host run away together to avoid the pursuit of an unidentified entity targeting them. Venom’s creator, Null, invades Earth to find them from their home planet, and Eddie Brock and Venom, who must work together to survive, fight against him.

Kelly Marcel, who has been in charge of writing the script for the ‘Venom’ series, will direct and use all the know-how he has accumulated over the years. The worst threat appears, tracking Venom’s existence in a space beyond the universe, and the character’s line, “If the two of you continue to be together, the world will end,” heralds the conclusion of the series. The fusion of the symbiote and various living things such as horses and fish, which had been present in the previous series, and the setting of connecting aliens and Area 51 with the symbiote are fresh. As this is the last series, Eddie Brock and Venom also show a stronger chemistry. Chiwetel Ejiofor, who has proven his outstanding acting skills by making his overwhelming presence known in various works, including the masterpiece ’12 Years a Slave’ that swept leading film festivals around the world, played the role of a general who tracks down the symbiote under the instructions of Dr. Payne.

Here, ‘Nul’, the entity that created Venom and was revealed for the first time, is played by actor Juno Temple and shows the appearance of a mysterious scientist who knows much more profound details than the known information about the symbiote. The sight of sending ‘Genophage’, a being he created, from Klintar, Venom’s home planet, to chase Venom’s traces and foretell the threat of destroying everything related to him gives an overwhelming presence. In particular, a huge river-shaped water tank was installed on a large site, creating an action scene that takes place in the rapids of the river, and the pleasant bickering chemistry between Eddie and Venom, who still rely on each other for survival, remains three-dimensional.

At the end of the film, the Las Vegas location, where you can get a glimpse of Dr. Payne’s ending and the delightful chemistry between Eddie and Venom, is especially noteworthy. Nevertheless, the lack of sufficient explanations for the actions of Dr. Pain, played by actor Juno Temple, and Colonel Strickland, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and the relatively poor CG scenes are disappointing. Running time 108 minutes.
