What is known about the premiere?
The events take place in 1927, when the “Slovo” cooperative building was built in Kharkiv with the help of the dictator Joseph Stalin and the most prominent Ukrainian writers and cultural figures settled in it. It is worth noting that the fictional character Volodymyr Akimov is also in the film.
He works as a press proofreader and above all dreams of joining the cohort of leading writers. In order to settle here, he really needed talent – the talent to eavesdrop and relay everything he heard to an NKVD agent.
Historical drama “House “Slovo”. An endless novel” was filmed by Taras Tomenko based on a script written by him together with Love Yakymchuk. In 2017, he shot the documentary film “The Word House”, the work on which inspired further research into the era and personalities. The feature film project became one of the winners of the competition from State cinema and received state funding that covered half of the production costs.
